We use the phrase "contemplative cinema" in Mud Puddle Films' mission statement. I've been surprised to hear the word "contemplative" used by a few film critics recently. And not in a religious context. In fact, Mud Puddle Films' use of the word isn't necessarily religious.

11 May, 2011 - Bro. Bruno Cardoré OP, Master General of the Dominican Order made history in Pakistan when he planted a Peace Pole at the Peace Centre in Lahore on the 9th of May, 2011 during his official visitation to Pakistan. This beautiful ceremony took place in the presence of more than 40 Dominican friars, Sisters and lay people. Prayers for peace in our country and around the world were offered, peace hymns sung, messages and speeches delivered. During the ceremony each person was holding a flag of one country of the world. It was a great manifestation expressing our longing for peace in the world.

A preaching camp is being held in Korbielów in Poland from the 23rd to 29th of August 2011. Bro Peter John Cameron O.P. will be the presenter and the topic is “Preaching the Inner Dimension of the Word of God”. The language of the camp is English. Some of the titles to be treated are: Dominican Preaching in the Post-Verbum Domini Church; The role of experience in Preaching – Insights of Thomas Gilby, OP; Preaching the Blessed Virgin Mary – Christ leads us to His mother.

From April 30 to May 2, 2011 the Coordinators of Lay Dominican Fraternities of the three African Zones (Eastern / Western / Southern) met at Corpus Christi Monastery at Karen, Nairobi/Kenya for their third General Meeting. Representatives of Dominican Youth, Nuns, Sisters, Friars and Lay Scholars also participated as guests, In order to promote the Preaching mission and improve the co-operation among the Lay Fraternities and between the Dominican Family within the huge continent of Africa, the delegates considered questions regarding leadership structures, census, financial contributions, youth apostolate, the Jubilee theme for the year 2014 (= “Laity and Preaching”), formation and international twinning. Elections were also held.
